What began with an embroidery hoop and some fabric dye has slowly blossomed into a deep desire to immerse African and Black women in the healing power of self-love. At Kubitees (pronounced coo-bee-tees), we’re driven to create timeless keepsakes that carry deep wisdom and intentionality—pieces designed to honor not just the realization of one’s self-worth, but the beauty of thriving in it.

Founded in 2016 by Kubrat “Kubi” Salaam—a Nigerian-American designer, writer, interview host, panel moderator, nonprofit founder, and entrepreneur—Kubitees is a reflection of her personal journey toward self-discovery. It is an expression of what it means to truly love the life you live by intentionally choosing practices that reflect that love for yourself.
